Rain Garden Application – Karşıyaka Kindergarten

As part of the Sponge City Izmir project, a pilot rainwater harvesting application has been implemented in the garden of Kardelenler Kindergarten located in Karşıyaka.

The amount of rainwater falling on the 174 m² roof of the Kardelenler Kindergarten building and the ceremonial area was calculated based on design rainfall, and the garden was sized accordingly.

An 8 m² rain garden has been designed. The rain garden collects water from the roof and the ceremonial area, allowing it to infiltrate underground.
