Gaziemir İzelman Sakarya Sponge Parking Lot Pilot Project

A green transformation has been carried out at the 8200 m² Gaziemir Sakarya open parking area, operated by İzelman A.Ş., using the water cycle. A total of 644 m² has been made permeable, and the parking lot has been converted into a sponge parking area with the construction of 9 separate infiltration ditches over a 206 m² area. The project aims to separate rainwater from the combined sewer system, prevent waterlogging around the parking lot, and reduce the urban heat island effect.
